Not sure if we're the right fit? Start with a free 15-minute consultation by video or phone.

A neurodivergent and gay counsellor offering affirming, collaborative support.Serving clients in Newfoundland and Labrador and select Canadian provinces and territories.
What it's like to work together
Counselling with me is collaborative and thoughtful. I don't believe you need to be "fixed," and I won't tell you who you should become. Instead, we'll work together to better understand what's happening, clarify what's important to you, and explore changes that feel meaningful and sustainable. You don't have to arrive with everything figured out. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply curious about yourself, we'll start where you are.I'll offer warmth, curiosity, and honest feedback. If something isn't working, or if you disagree with me, I want us to talk about it. Therapy works best when it's something we build together.
Some of the reasons people reach out
π§ ADHD, Autism, & Neurodivergence
You may be navigating ADHD, autism, or other neurodivergent experiences - feeling exhausted from masking, struggling with executive functioning, experiencing burnout, or trying to better understand how your brain works and what supports actually fit you.
π LGBTQ+ identity and relationships
You may be exploring identity, coming out, relationships, belonging, minority stress, or wanting a counsellor who understands LGBTQ+ experiences without making you explain the basics first.
π Lifeβs challenges
You may be dealing with anxiety, stress, grief, self-esteem, life transitions, or a general sense that something is not working as well as you would like.
π€ Couples counselling
You may want support with communication, conflict, intimacy, rebuilding connection, or navigating a relationship shaped by neurodivergence, LGBTQ+ identity, or consensual non-monogamy.
What counselling can help with
π§ Better understand yourself
Clarify patterns, strengths, values, and what matters most to you.
π¬ Manage difficult emotions
Develop practical ways of responding to anxiety, overwhelm, grief, burnout, or stress.
π± Build lasting change
Explore realistic changes that fit your life rather than someone else's expectations.
π€ Strengthen relationships
Improve communication, boundaries, intimacy, and connection.
π§ Understand how your brain works
Develop strategies that respect how you naturally think, feel, and process the world.
My counselling approach
There isn't a single counselling approach that works for everyone. Rather than following one fixed method, I draw from several evidence-informed approaches and adapt our work based on your goals, preferences, communication style, and what feels most helpful.
πΏ Person-centred and collaborative
You are the expert on your own life. My role isn't to tell you who you should become, but to understand your experience, ask thoughtful questions, and work alongside you toward meaningful change.
π§ Acceptance and values
Rather than fighting every difficult thought or emotion, we'll explore how to make room for them while moving toward the life that matters most to you.
π Understanding thoughts and patterns
Together we'll notice the patterns that may be keeping you stuck and explore practical strategies that fit how you naturally think, learn, and communicate.
β¨ Strengths, solutions, and next steps
We'll also build on what's already working. Small, realistic steps often create more lasting change than trying to transform everything at once.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I need to know exactly what I want to talk about before starting counselling?
Not at all. Many people begin counselling with a general sense that something isn't working as well as they'd like, but aren't sure why. You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. We can start wherever you are, explore what's been happening, and work together to understand what's most important to you.
What if I'm nervous about starting counselling?
That's completely normal. Many people feel anxious about reaching out or aren't sure what to expect. You don't need to know exactly what to say or have everything figured out before we meet. The free consultation is simply a chance to ask questions, get a sense of what working together might be like, and decide whether it feels like a good fit. There's no pressure to continue if it doesn't.
How often should I come to counselling?
There isn't one schedule that's right for everyone. Some people wish to begin with sessions every week or two, while others find that every 4-6 weeks works better. As things change, we can adjust the frequency together. The goal isn't to attend counselling forever. It's to provide the level of support that feels helpful, realistic, and appropriate for where you are in your life.
What if we're not the right fit?
Finding the right counsellor is important, and it's okay if that isn't me. If it seems another therapist or service would better meet your needs, I'll let you know and, whenever possible, help point you in the right direction. The goal is for you to receive the support that fits you best, whether that's with me or someone else.
Is online counselling effective?
For many people, yes. Online counselling can offer many of the same benefits as meeting in person, while allowing you to connect from a space where you feel comfortable and without needing to travel. What matters most to me is whether this way of working feels comfortable and useful for you. While I generally recommend meeting by video, online counselling isn't necessarily the best fit for everyone. We can talk about what you're looking for during the free consultation and decide whether working together online makes sense.
Is everything we talk about confidential?
In most situations, yes. What we discuss in counselling is private and confidential. There are, however, a few legal and ethical exceptions where I may be required to share information, such as if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else, concerns about the abuse or neglect of a child, or if records are required by law. We'll review confidentiality and its limits together before we begin so you know what to expect and have an opportunity to ask any questions you might have.
Do I have to turn my camera on?
No. While I generally recommend meeting by video because it helps us communicate more naturally, I also recognize that everyone's needs and comfort levels are different. If having your camera off, or meeting by phone, would make it easier for you to engage in counselling, we can talk about what feels like the best fit.
How do I know whether counselling is right for me?
You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. Many people reach out because they're feeling stuck, navigating a life transition, wanting to better understand themselves, or simply looking for support during a difficult time.If you're unsure, my free 15-minute consultation is a good place to start. We can talk about what's bringing you here, answer any questions you have, and decide together whether counselling feels like the right next step.

The Person Behind NeuroKind
π Gordie Spracklin, M.A., CCC

I've been fascinated by psychology for as long as I can remember. When I was about ten years old, I found an old psychology textbook in a second-hand shop in Bay Roberts. At the time, I had no idea it was an earlier edition of the same textbook I would eventually study from during my first year at university. For years, I was drawn to the kinds of conversations where people felt comfortable being honest about who they were and what they were going through. In 2021, with encouragement from my partner, Victor, I realized I wanted to learn how to use that natural curiosity and connection more intentionally. That decision led me to counselling, where I now have the privilege of helping people better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and find hope during life's more difficult seasons.
β€οΈ What I love about counselling
What I love most about counselling is the opportunity to build genuine relationships with people and walk alongside them as they make sense of their experiences. Some sessions are light. Others are incredibly difficult. What leaves me feeling energized isn't whether a session was easy. Rather, it's knowing that we connected in a meaningful way, found hope where things had begun to feel heavy, and discovered realistic next steps that fit that person's life.Every client is different. Rather than expecting people to fit into one way of thinking or one approach, I enjoy adapting our work together so it feels authentic, practical, and genuinely helpful.
π± What I hope people experience
More than anything, I hope people leave our work together feeling genuinely seen, heard, and understood.I want people to feel they can bring every part of themselves into the room - their questions, fears, hopes, relationships, identities, and uncertainties - without feeling they need to edit who they are or explain why their experiences matter. For neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ clients especially, I hope to offer a place where there's less time spent explaining your world and more time spent exploring it together. If someone leaves feeling more hopeful, more connected to themselves, and more confident that they don't have to navigate life alone, I consider that meaningful work.
π Beyond counselling

Outside of counselling, I'm someone who enjoys balancing adventure with quiet moments.A perfect Saturday might begin slowly with coffee, a good book, a knitting project, and my three cats before heading out for a hike, a walk along the coast, or an afternoon wandering through thrift shops looking for unexpected treasures. I love discovering book nooks, spending time by the ocean, falling down the occasional rabbit hole when something sparks my curiosity, and sharing meals and laughter with the people I care about. Those quiet moments of curiosity, gratitude, and connection remind me to slow down and appreciate the beauty that's often found in ordinary life. They continue to shape not only who I am as a person, but also how I show up as a counsellor.
π Pets are always welcome.
One of my favourite parts of online counselling is getting to meet the pets that are part of people's lives. If your cat decides to walk across the keyboard, your dog wants attention, or another furry (or feathered!) friend makes an appearance during a session, that's completely okay. Many people feel most comfortable at home with their pets nearby, and they're always welcome here.
πΎ The Pets Behind NeuroKind
These three are an important part of life at home and occasionally make guest appearances during online sessions. Pets are always welcome to join us, and there's never any need to apologize if yours wanders into view.
π Mittens

Chief Security Officer
Loud, opinionated, and highly motivated by snacks, Mittens takes his responsibilities seriously. Whether he's conducting perimeter checks for insects and suspicious rodents or demanding payment for his hard work, he's always keeping an eye on things. When he's off duty, he's a surprisingly affectionate companion.
π Comet

Senior Advisor (Semi-Retired)
At 18 years old, Comet has earned a slower pace of life. The respected elder of the household, he rules with a firm but fair paw and quietly reminds the younger cats who's in charge. His favourite hobbies include relaxing outdoors in adorable outfits and soaking up as much sunshine as possible.
π§ Dominic

Director of Research & Surprise Appearances
Dominic earned his honorary psychology degree after years of faithfully supervising university lectures, assignments, and late-night study sessions. He's brilliant, affectionate, and remarkably skilled at appearing on camera exactly when least expected. His preferred forms of compensation are long naps and tuna.
If one of my cats happens to wander through a session, I promise they aren't judging your life choices - and your own pets are always welcome to join us too.
